Meditation & Healing
Healing or energy healing is central to the great religious traditions In the gospels in the New Testament, the two topics mentioned more than any other are money and healing. St Gregory Palamas, an eastern orthodox teacher in the thirteenth century wrote that while God is above all nature and beings, God manifests directly as energy. Dr Larry Dossey, M D, a physician using the insights of subatomic physics, writes that “prayer is not confined to a specific place in space or to a specific moment in time.” Healing prayer or energy healing is an aspect or form of contemplative prayer and is able to facilitate healing in the broadest sense of that word, across all barriers of time and space. It complements and respects medical science and treatment. We use insights and methods from many different
sources: Touch for Health, Healing Touch, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, Body Mind Centering, Energy Medicine, and others. We invite requests for healing in our Sunday evening worship at 5 PM, and we teach and practice methods of energy healing in our Energy Healing community at 6:30PM the second Monday of each month.
Whether you are new to the many practices of healing and energy healing, or have a long background and experience in them, we want to invite you to be a guest and visit us. Each time we offer an important teaching on energy healing, engage in energy healing practice with each other, and end with a brief time of silence and sharing.

A poem written by Symeon the New Theologian 949-1022 , abbot of a Greek Orthodox monastery in northern Turkey expresses the spirit of energy healing:
We awaken in Christ’s body
As Christ awakens our bodies,
And my poor hand is Christ. He enters
My foot, and is infinitely me.
I move my hand, and wonderfully
My hand becomes Christ, becomes all of Him
(for God is indivisibly
whole, seamless in His Godhead.)
I move my foot, and at once
He appears like a flash of lightning.
Do my words seem blasphemous? – Then
Open your heart to Him.
And let yourself receive the one
Who is opening to you so deeply,
For if we genuinely love Him
We wake up inside Christ’s body
Where all our body, all over,
Every most hidden part of it,
Is realized in joy in Him,
And He makes us, utterly, real
And everything that is hurt, everything
That seemed to us dark, harsh,. shameful
Maimed, ugly, irreparably
Damaged, is in Him transformed
And recognized as whole, as lovely
And radiant in His light
We awaken as the Beloved
In every part of our body.
